Swedish body massage is a popular method of massage application. In today’s busy, and stressful lifestyles with the current climate clients are looking to have that relaxing pamper haven time out. By offering body massage you are not only extending your service range, you are helping your clients to relax, and have the quality time out they deserve. During the course you will watch demonstrations by an experienced and skilled teacher.

You will then practice body massage on other members of the group with step-by-step tuition. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and master your new skill. A lovely course to attend and definitely highly recommend.

Entry Requirements: Suitable for beginners and therapists wanting to extend their service skills. Learners must be 16 plus.

What will the course cover?

• Anatomy & Physiology (A&P)
• Client consultation
• Contra-indications, body analysis, contra-actions
• The effects of massage
• Massage mediums
• Salon environment / emotional outbursts
• Psychological effects on massage
• Massage movements and there effect (Effleurage, Pettrisage, Tapotement, Friction & vibration massaging)
• Adapting massage
• Procedure for massage
• After care

What do I need to know before I start the course? Learners are required to work on each during the course. You must have achieved A&P or Beauty level three to achieve a massage accreditation. We will require a copy of your certification prior to your training to enable us to accredit the massage certificate or you will receive a certificate of attendance (workshop certificate). If you have not complete the A&P required you can still attend the workshop in massage, and complete the A&P at a later date. We can then issue a new certificate after for you when you have completed the A&P.

Refreshments: Tea or coffee will be provided but please bring your own snack if required. We do have a microwave, small fridge and plates if required.

Will I need to bring any materials? You will receive a training unit book prior to your course starting so you can read though prior to your training starting, and reinforce learning. By reading the learning unit book prior to you training day you will have more hands on practical time during your training sessions. However please do note down any questions you have whilst reading the manual to discuss with your tutor. All materials are provided within the training price for the training day.

How will the course be assessed? Your tutor will observe your practical skills during training, and ask you oral questioning to check your understanding of the procedure. Additional practice at home is mandatory on completion of the course to ensure your speed and proficiency.

Is the course accredited? A certificate of attendance will be awarded to successful learners who achieve the required level of proficiency. Public liability insurance can be obtained through ABT (Association of Beauty Therapists) once you have achieved the level 3 A&P, and course proficiency. If you have not completed s level three A&P and would like to achieve the full accreditation please complete our level three A&P course.

Is Private Training Available? Yes .We also offer private one to one classes for our learners that prefer private tuition and not to be practised on. A model is still required or we can provide a model for an additional charge of £20. With advanced notice. Please enquire about private training prices.
